Substance Use Treatment Programs

Indian Rivers Behavioral Health offers a range of substance use treatment programs designed to support individuals at different stages of recovery. Services include outpatient care, intensive outpatient treatment, residential treatment for women, and specialized programs for individuals involved in drug court programs. Each program provides structured therapy, case management, and support to help individuals achieve and maintain recovery.
Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Treatment
Indian Rivers provides both Outpatient (OP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) treatment programs for individuals who need structured support while continuing to live at home.
Outpatient Treatment (OP)
Outpatient programs typically include two 2-hour group sessions per week. Participants also have access to:

Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP)
Intensive outpatient programs provide a higher level of support and include three 3-hour group sessions per week. Participants also receive:

Women’s Inpatient Treatment
A Woman’s Place is a 16-bed residential treatment facility for women that provides a supportive and structured environment focused on recovery. The typical stay is 14–28 days. The program is classified as a Level 3.3 medium intensity residential program. Women are accepted from throughout the state of Alabama, with preference given to those within the Indian Rivers service area.
Priority admission is given to pregnant women, women who use intravenous drugs, and women with dependent children who need treatment services.
Items to bring:
Residents should bring basic personal items for their stay, including:

Casual clothing

Personal hygiene items such as make-up, hair products, soap, and toiletries

Plastic clothes hangers (no wire hangers)

Towels and washcloths
-
Laundry basket and laundry detergent

Twin bed sheet set, mattress cover, mattress pad, and pillow

Stamps and a phone card (phone privileges begin after one week)

Snacks, sodas, and cigarettes
Items not allowed:
For safety and security, the following items are prohibited:

Pagers

Weapons of any kind, including pocket knives
Second Chance and Drug Court Programs
Indian Rivers partners with local courts to provide treatment services for individuals participating in court-supervised recovery programs.
Tuscaloosa County – Second Chance Program
Indian Rivers provides both outpatient and intensive outpatient programming for participants in the Tuscaloosa County Second Chance program.

Pickens County – Drug Court
Indian Rivers also partners with the 24th Judicial Circuit Drug Court in Pickens County. Participants attend outpatient treatment services at the Pickens County office.
In addition to therapy and case management, Indian Rivers therapists also attend court and participate in case staffing meetings with the presiding judge, district attorney, court referral officer, and case manager. Therapists often serve as strong advocates for clients while supporting the court’s goal of long-term recovery and accountability.
